Bookstore Romance Day

Hey everyone!

We're celebrating Bookstore Romance Day on Saturday, August 17! Now, truth be told, we are a romance bookstore and so every day is Romance Bookstore Day for us, but it's still fun to celebrate a little bit more on this special day, especially since we weren't open for Independent Bookstore Day.

We're very excited for the things we have planned and here they are!

We are having a mini panel from 11:30-12:30 with: Jennifer Prokop (Romance Correspondent for Kirkus Reviews and cohost of the podcast Fated Mates) and Danielle Dresser (Editorial Manager for Fresh Fiction). They are super excited to talk romance and spend time with us!

We are having a mingle and signing from 1:30-4:30 with the following local authors:

Barbara Keaton- A Chicago native, Barbara Keaton loves the city and says she cannot imagine living anywhere else. Educatd in Catholic schools up until 12th grade, Barbara credits the Oblate Sisters of Providence, the oldest order of black nuns, and her late maternal grandfather, Thomas Hill for her love and respect for the written word. Barbara's first romance novel, All I Ask, was published in 2000. Since then she's gone on to write a total of thirteen romance novels which celebrate black love. In addition to her books, she's also written several articles and editorials that have appeared in various publications: Today's Black Woman Magazine; The Chicago Crusader; The Chicago Defender; The Chicago Reader; Bronze Thrills; True Confessions; and, Affaire de Coeur. Barbara holds an MS in Journalism from Roosevelt University and belongs to several civic and professional organizations, namely Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, she's an avid reader and writer. Married to a minister, Barbara has no children of her own, but she considers her niece and nephew, Stephanie and Matthew, and her step-daughter Candice, her "babies". In addition, she's a grandma and a great-aunt. Barbara lives by a personal credo: I ANSWER TO TWO-- MY GOD AND MYSELF!

A.J. Pine- A teen librarian by day and a cowboy romance writer by night, A.J. Pine can’t seem to escape the world of fiction, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. When she finds that 25th hour in the day, she might indulge in a bit of Netflix and Hulu, nourishing her undying love of vampires, superheroes, and a certain high-functioning sociopath detective. She hails from the far off galaxy of the Chicago suburbs where she resides with her two amazing kids and three little devils disguised as cats.

Victoria H. Smith- Victoria has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. She puts it to good use writing romance all day. She’s a foodie, loves all things art and KPOP (Korean Pop Music), and her favorite place is Disney World—seriously. She even honeymooned there. She’s a Swirl Award and AMB Ovation Award recipient and CIMRWA nominee for Best Contemporary Romance. Catch up with her on social media where she posts way too many pictures of her favorite vegan recipes and her way too smart for his own good corgi named Kylo.

Liz Lincoln- Liz is a Wisconsin native living in Milwaukee with her own romance hero and two pretty awesome kids, a pair of goofy cats, and a turtle. She's an author, freelance editor, amateur crafter, and Certified Soccer Mom. Her favorite season is football – Go Packers! Go Badgers! And thanks to her daughter, she's all-in obsessed with the USWNT soccer and the NWSL. And don't ever mess with her romance HEA!

There will be books by those authors for you to purchase and have them sign and they are all super excited to meet all of the readers and talk with you about their books.

In addition, we are so lucky that the hosts Morgan and Isabeau of the podcast Whoa!mance will be here with us as well to record a little something during the day!

And of course, we will have some publisher giveaways to help celebrate the day!

We are so excited to celebrate romance with you!
